AIMD's Business and Professional Division features a diverse collection of associations that specialize in enhancing local participation and and involvement in the private sectors of developing countries. Members provide pre-professionals and professionals in developing countries opportunties for education, certification, and technical exchange in a wide variety of sectors, ranging from mechanical and civil engineering to internal auditing and governance control.

AIMD's Business and Professional Division is deeply committed to working with the United States government, intergovernmental organizations, and local assocations to foster the growth of public sector expertise in developing countries. Members have explored market expansion opportunities and reviewed governance structures in conjunction with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its program Volunteers for Prosperity, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF) in China, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Zimbabwe. Moreover, members have conducted seminars and education programs in Qatar, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Cuba, Ireland, and Mexico, and have hosted training sessions across Latin America and Asia. AIMD members have formed extensive networks of cooperation with local government officials, sister societies, and technical experts in each of their fields.
